Make Your Day Harder

August 18, 2015 Magenta Health

We’re fans of Dr. Evan’s videos.  They’re very well done and simplify difficult to discuss topics like prostate cancer screening and low back pain.

We wanted to share a video from Dr. Evan’s today about making your day slightly harder physically everyday.  Very minor adjustments lead to some pretty remarkable health benefits.

We understand that people live busy lives and that’s it’s hard to find time for physical activity.  That’s why we like to promote small changes and small adjustments.  They are easier to start and have a greater chance of sticking!

Instead of driving to work, consider biking to work.

Or if work is too far, consider cycling or walking to the subway and train station.  You could even bring your bike with you.

Consider walking to the grocery store instead of taking the car.  Get small folding cart and you won’t have to worry about heavy groceries.

If you work in an office tower, take the stairs for the last 3 floors.  When going downstairs, walk the last 5 floors.  Get out of your office chair for a bit, stand up to do your work.  You don’t need a fancy start-up table, a few old phone books will do.  Too much sitting is linked with a variety of health risks.  It’s one of the reasons why you will see so many standing workstations at our clinic.

For more ideas (or if you just happen to be fans of Body Break, with Hal Johnson and Joanne McLeod), here’s some more great videos from the 90s!
