It's time for your annual flu vaccine!

We are writing this post as it is that time of year again when the leaves have turned orange and red and started to fall, and it’s time for your annual flu vaccine.

To learn more, the Ministry of Health and Long Term Care is a excellent resource and does a great job of explaining the flu and the flu vaccine. Toronto Public Health also provides some helpful fact sheets about the flu vaccine for children and adults.

For individuals between the ages of 5 and 64 years old, as an alternative to scheduling an appointment with our clinic, please consider getting a flu vaccine in one of the following ways:

Please consider these alternatives as they’ll likely be more convenient for you, and it will allow us to better serve patients who cannot use the options above, such as our many patients under 5. It is important to  remember to bring your OHIP card if you go elsewhere.

This year, Magenta Health will be offering several flu vaccine clinics to help our patients get vaccinated. These clinics will be open to all of our patients who are 6 months of age or older.

We are also offering additional flu vaccine appointments for those who are 12 years or under, 65 years+ and/or at high risk for complications from the flu.

*Important note for our patients who are 65 years or older:

The preferred flu vaccine for those who are 65 years or older is the “high dose” flu vaccine. This is a different vaccine than the standard flu vaccine and it offers better protection against some strains of the flu. The high dose flu vaccine is only available through clinics like ours or through Toronto Public Health. We recommend that you get the high dose flu vaccine through either of these options so that you are best protected from the flu. If you are unable to do so, then we would suggest that you get the standard vaccine at a pharmacy offering the flu vaccine.  ****Important update! We have temporarily ran out of the high dose flu vaccine. Please see here for important details!
