Patients occasionally aren't quite sure how to book urgent appointments. This post will walk through the steps with screenshots exemplifying what to do and where to click.
Step 1 - The first step is always to have a new patient intake appointment with your physician. Only once you've had this appointment will you be provided by email a link to book subsequent follow-up appointments with your doctor. Please bookmark the link for future reference although this search tool is available if you have lost the link.
Step 2 - When you wish to book an urgent appointment with your physician, access the link provided to you. You'll be taken to a page similar to the following:
Step 3 - Towards the bottom, you will be presented with a number of different appointment types. These will differ from physician to physician. In particular, if you have a new and/or worsening medical concern that requires urgent attention, click on the "Urgent Appointment" link.
Step 4 - Once you select this option, the webpage will display a booking form such as the below.
Step 5 - You'll notice that a three step process is described. This process has been put in place to maximize the likelihood that you see your own physician. Choose Step 1 first. Once you do so, the webpage will display a booking form such as the below.
Step 6 - If a suitable appointment time is available, great. Please book that time. If none of these times work for you, please click on Step 2 to view additional last-minute appointment times with your own physician as in the image below. These are available because each Magenta Health physician reserves a few slots every day that can only be booked 24 hours in advance in order to ensure timely access for patients.
Depending on when you are accessing this option, you may see a warning box, advising that there are no appointments currently available. If so, this is because all of your physician's last minute appointment slots in the next 24 hours, if any, have already been booked.
Step 7 - If a suitable appointment time is available, great. Please book that time. If none of these times work for you, please click on Step 3 to view after-hours appointment timeslots as in the image below. These are available because Magenta Health physician collaborate to provide evening clinic coverage as well for their patients. At the moment, these evening clinics are offered three business days a week, starting in December 2014, it will be four business days a week, and starting in February 2015, there will also be a weekend clinic. These appointments, at the moment, can only be booked 15 hours in advance in order to ensure timely access for patients.
If no suitable appointments are available, please either book a regular appointment or visit a nearby walk-in clinic.
